How to maintain aerial working plaforms(AWPS)
Regular maintenance and care of aerial work platforms are essential to ensure their safe operation and prolong their service life. Taking the Jovoo V16 Electric Articulating Boom Lift as an example, we will provide an overview. Below are the key maintenance and care tasks based on our experience with manufacturing and using boom lifts, divided into two main aspects: daily usage precautions and periodic inspections and maintenance
Daily Use Guidelines:
- Pre-Operation Inspection: Check the exterior of the equipment for visible damage, especially the arm, platform, and tires. If any issues are found, stop using the machine and repair them promptly.
- Power Off: After each use, ensure the main power switch, key switch, and emergency stop are turned off. Charge the machine immediately.
- Battery Maintenance: If the machine is stored for an extended period, charge it fully once a month or check the battery voltage.
- Storage: When not in use, store the machine in a dry, ventilated, and safe location, away from direct sunlight, rain, and humidity.
- Transporting the Equipment: Secure the machine firmly during transport to prevent movement or damage.
Regular Maintenance Checks (Example: Jovoo V16 Electric Articulated Boom Lift):
- Pre-Operation Inspection:
Before use, inspect the vehicle and operating condition.Ensure there are no loose screws or cracks in the arm structure, and that all pins and stop pins are intact. Check both the interior and exterior for foreign objects, and ensure the tires are in good condition. - Battery Inspection:
Remove the cover plate and inspect the power cables.
Use a 13mm wrench to check for loose terminal nuts.
Use a multimeter to check the battery voltage: Set the multimeter to the voltage measurement mode; (the normal voltage is around 6.6V per battery and 52V for the total battery pack).
Tighten the cover plate after inspection.
- Gear Oil Replacement:
There are three signs that indicate gear oil needs changing:- Color and Smell: If the oil has darkened or smells burnt, it’s time for a change.
- Metal Particles: If you find metal debris, it suggests gear wear and the oil should be replaced.
- Temperature and Noise: If the equipment operates at higher temperatures or with increased noise, the oil may no longer be effective.
How to Replace:
Drive the machine until one drain plug is at the lowest point. Remove the two plugs with an 8mm hex wrench and drain the oil. Drive the equipment until one plug reaches the highest point. Refill through the higher hole until the oil overflows from the lower hole. Tighten the plugs after refilling.
4.Grease Replacement:
Remove the grease cup cap from the rotation support. Use a grease gun to apply 3-4 pumps of grease. Finally, screw the grease cup cap down.
5.Hydraulic Oil Change:
Open the front cover plate of the equipment to check hydraulic oil levels. Observe the color of the hydraulic oil to determine if it needs to be replaced or added. If necessary, open the chassic cover to drain the old oil and replace it with fresh hydraulic oil.
Ensure the oil tank cap is tightly secured.
- Filter Element Replacement:
Use a belt wrench to remove and replace the hydraulic oil filter element. Ensure the protective cover is securely closed afterward. - Pressure Test (Lifting Pressure):
Open the M port pressure connector and connect a pressure gauge. Raise the platform to measure the lifting pressure (normally within 24 Mpa). Test the steering pressure when turning the wheel to the left limit (normally within 22 Mpa).
After testing, disconnect the gauge, reinstall the plug, and close the protective cover.
- Lubrication:
Fully extend the telescopic arm and inspect its surface for lubrication. If the grease is worn off, apply fresh grease. - Foot Switch and Platform Auto-Leveling Test:
Test the foot switch for proper operation and ensure the platform’s auto-leveling function works correctly.
